Established in 1992 with the launch of the study programs in aeronautics, the Department is a structural unit of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences and the home of all aeronautics study programs. Our teaching and research activities make the Department unique in Croatia as a comprehensive higher-education provider for aviation professionals whose careers span flight operations, aircraft management, and air traffic control.
The mission of the Department of Aeronautics is to provide high-quality education and professional training for future bachelors and masters of aeronautical engineering capable of meeting the challenges of modern aviation. It fosters excellence and develops competent professionals who can solve complex problems in aeronautics, make decisions within sophisticated systems such as aircraft and air traffic management, and operate with a strong sense of social responsibility especially in domains of national interest such as air traffic management and military aviation.
The vision of the Department of Aeronautics is to be a leading scientific and educational center of excellence that provides top-tier education, encourages creativity and research spirit in aeronautics and air traffic management, and cooperates with industry and leading national and European institutions.
By combining rigorous academic work with practical implementation, we ensure that our research directly enhances safety, efficiency, and sustainability across the aviation ecosystem.
